DESCRIPTION:MMFC has partnered with Grassroots Wellness to offer FREE\, weekly tai chi classes in our classroom through September! Drop in during your lunch break\, or before or after a stop at the Menomonie Farmer's Market for a midweek dose of relaxation and energy. In these weekly 30-minute classes we will cover basic tai chi warmups\, also known as "qi gong\," in a mellow\, beginner-friendly setting. Benefits to mind and body include states of calm\, deepened breathing\, improved physical and emotional balance\, and greater vitality. No registration required\, just show up and relax! Loose clothing is recommended. Instructor Chris Hayden was given permission to teach in 2012 after over a decade of practice\, and is also a licensed Asian bodywork therapist and Certified Rolfer. GRASSROOTS WELLNESS is funded by the State of Wisconsin to provide peer-delivered\, non-clinical\, community-based alternatives to traditional mental health services. The mission of the Learning Community is to create and sustain a community where healing and growth are outcomes of a group of equals working together within the framework of shared values and vision.
